Statement of Expectations from Patricia M. Weber, Sixth Grade Teacher Walt Disney Magnet School

Dear Mr. Aprill,

Thank you for giving my students this wonderful opportunity to participate in
the Brazilian exchange project. I have discussed the project with them and
they feel very fortunate to be involved.

From this project, I would like my students to not only gain a better
understanding of Brazil, but also of the world. I'd like them to realize
that it does not matter where people are from, we all share commonalties.
Once we delve deeply into the project, I think they'll be surprised just how
closely connected we all are- a father of a student in my homeroom is from
Brazil.

I would also like my students to have a greater appreciation for the arts due
to their part in this exchange. I want to expose them to the themes and
feelings that accompany a piece of art. Also, I want them to realize that
art is a personal expression- a person's background affects the type of art
he/she creates.

And, last but not least, I would love for them to make Brazilian friends!
I believe that having friends from around the world is a great treasure.
