Follow these procedures in PSP to creat a new image

1. Click on File from the top menu and select 'new' or Click on or key in 'ALT' (this highlight the menu bar), then 'F', the 'N', this is referred to as a shortcut in windows (the letters are underlined in the drop down list of options).
2. A window will pop up, this is where you get to pick the dimensions you desire. Select the drop down boxes to the right of Width and Height fields and make sure pixels is selected. Lets start out with a simple banner. Set the dimensions to 400x60 pixels.
3. Set the initial background color to white.
4. Set the image type to 256 colors (this will set the color palette to a fixed amount of 256 various colors. Click OK. -We're selecting 256 because we're going to make a simple banner with few colors. If you plan on doing something creative with filters, choose to start with millions of colors.
5. See if you can get "Internet Graphics" into the banner in blue without knowing much about the tools and toolbar (located on the left border of PSP - this toolbar is moveable, left is just the default).
