Hello, welcome to my website. This web-site was created as a project for UC's Graham School of General Studies 1998 Summer Seminars for Chicago Area School Teachers. I am participating in the Advanced Practicum in Web-Based Instruction seminar. The module I will be developing for this seminar is on Internet Graphics. My team partners will include Sheila McGrath and John Lyman. Immediately following this seminar this on-line graphics course will be used in a summer workshop I am fascilitating for District 94.

     I am a recent graduate of North Central College with a B.A. in Science encompassing strengths in math, ecology, evolution, and certification in biology. I currently teach 3 sections of Regular Biology and 2 sections of Contemporary Biology at West Chicago Community High School - District 94. Our school is equipped with 2 computer labs, one Pentium and one Mac, which I currently bring my classes to 1-2 times per quarter.

     I became interested in computers in 1994 and over the following 3 years of school I learned the ins and outs of the internet via a T1 connection directly to my room. I quickly became profficient at creating graphics as I was adding them to all the papers I was writing. I knew it was only a matter of time before I started creating web-pages. When I arrived at West Chicago High School I immediately took to the web in my class room for projects and direct instruction. The result of this was nearly 40 educational pages and a section to include assignments and grades.

     During my first year of teaching, while creating all these pages with rather extensive graphics, I decided I needed a new computer because my old Packard Bell just wasn't cutting the mustard. So I purchased a new PII300 system with 176MB RAM and DVD (which there are educational titles for, they work great instead of a VCR). So while my productivity increased 100%, so did my credit debt. As a result I created BiosFear Graphics in order to make a little extra income through creating web-pages for the corporate side of the web. I now have well over 100 pages created on the web employing many techniques in HTML, graphics, forms, Active Server Pages (for on-line testing), cgi and java scripts, and Netscape enhancements.
