Mission

The Chicago Public Schools/University of Chicago Internet Project (CUIP) is a collaborative partnership between the University of Chicago, Chicago Public Schools (CPS), and 26 CPS schools in the Woodlawn, Hyde Park / South Kenwood, and North Kenwood / Oakland neighborhoods of Chicago. Our primary goal is to enhance teaching and learning in the CUIP
schools through the use of the Internet and other computer technologies. Toward this goal, we focus our attention on the following four
initiatives:

  • Infrastructure:
Data wiring in schools, electrical power, computers in classrooms
  • System Management/Maintenance:
Network administration, operating systems, troubleshooting, NSP Tech assistance
  • Training:
Individual and group training on specific technology skills and/or technology integration into the classroom
  • Classroom Technology Integration: Classroom technology projects, curriculum development, NSP Project Assistant activity

In support of these strategies, CUIP is also involved in specific projects, some with formal liaisons with other institutions.
