More and more
teachers are being asked to conduct Guided Reading sessions in their
classrooms. But one of the issues confronting teachers is what to
do with the other students while working with a small group. When
Adriana Ibarra, a Chicago Public School bilingual teacher began
working with Drew Tessler, a Chicago Teachers' Center coach, she
wanted to know, ""How do I manage those not in my small
group during guided reading?"
Drew and Adriana
worked together to develop the concept of a menu of items that students
could work with while their teacher was engaged in small group work.
