June 2008/July 2008 - Roosevelt University through GEAR UP sponsors Freshman Connection at Hyde Park Academy and John Hope College Preparatory High School. The summer program is designed to help students make a successful transition to high school. |

April 2008/May 2008 - Students go on college trips with their peers. Visits to Roosevelt University help student prepare for college. While back at school, students learn about the Career Ladder and Conflict Resolution. |

February 2008/March 2008 - College trips are part of the GEAR UP experience for families. This year a trip for freshmen students and their parents on a UIC College Trip includes tickets to a UIC Flames game. Participating in the workshop, Street Smarts is a way to keep students safe from gangs. |
