Our Curriculum and Programs
Kozminski's enhanced curriculum provides opportunity for all students
to participate in hands-on math and science labs, instrumental music, music
theory, library science, computer science, and physical education.
The time devoted to daily reading and language arts is approximately 3
hours with approximately 1 hour per day spent on math.
The average Kozminski class size is approximately 24 students.
Kozminski is a part of the Mid South Magnet Cluster Program and an International
CPS Scholar School. French is offered to students in grades 1 through
8. The entire school has Internet connectivity in classrooms and
three computer labs. Additional programs and the literacy focused
curiculum include: Standards based instruction, Junior Great Books, Community
for Learning (CFL), Education Connections/Least Restrictive Environment,
CUIP (CPS University of Chicago Internet Project), Safe and Drug Free Schools,
technology integration, Reading Renaissance, Accelerated Reader, Digital
Library, The Great Body Shop, and the University of Chicago Partnerships.
Kozminski offers students opportunities for academic advancement by providing
remediation, enrichment and social development through a variety of programs
such as computer access, after school academics, learning center, instrumental
music, drama, social center, and team sports.
