Vision Statement
The Emmett Till Elementary Professional Community is dedicated to providing
a comprehensive educational program for its students, emphasizing the
developmental needs of the whole child. This will be accomplished through
quality educational experiences, professional development opportunities,
fostering a sense of community whereby parents are involved and
committed to participating in their children's education, and providing
a caring environment to nurture our students. In addition, students will
be provided with structured learning experiences that will enable them
to develop into responsible citizens.
We believe that the instructional program should:
 | provide students with engaging, hands on, problem solving
activities to promote learning |
 | set high standards and provide appropriate instructional support
for student success |
 | incorporate values, morals, and respect for self and others |
 | provide a variety of learning activities to respond to the needs
of all of our students including shared reading, literature circles,
Bloom's taxonomy, reciprocal teaching, cooperative learning, and
direct skills instruction |
 | provide interdisciplinary instruction across all grade levels |
 | provide a middle school program that responds to the academic,
social, emotional, and physiological needs of adolescents |
 | create a community of learners among students, staff, and parents |
 | correlate mathematics with other content area and real life
experiences |
 | integrate technology into the instructional program |
 | utilize a variety of assessments to monitor student progress and
provide feedback to guide instruction |
A wide range of opportunities for parental involvement will support
this instructional program. In addition, community partnership will be
expanded in keeping with the notion that "it takes a whole
village to raise a child."
A wholesome learning climate will be promoted via a safe and orderly
environment, attendance initiatives and activities to foster school
pride, student self-esteem and motivation.
