Writing a plan to use your lesson plan or module in your classroom

Now that you've looked at your actual situation, considered some options for using the Internet in that situation, and looked at some general strategies of Internet use, it is time to write a plan to utilize your lesson plan or curriculum module.

This plan shoudl be considered part of your lesson plan or module, rather than separate from it. In a lesson plan, the "plan" is how you intend to teach during the lesson. In a curriculum module, the "plan" is represented by the Teaching or Curriculum Guide, and specifically in the section labeled "Instructional Plan."

Consider the following questions:

  • How will you group the students for this activity?
  • Will there be another activity going on at the same time as the Internet use?
  • How will the Internet use relate to the other activities in the classroom?
  • If the students are grouped, how will you ensure that each member of the group has something to do (other than just try to meddle with the keyboardist's job)?
  • How will you account for ability differences in the groups? How will you incorporate students with special needs?
  • What will you be doing at the beginning, during, and the end of the activity? Have you included ways to help the students help themselves, rather than always ask you for a question?
  • How will students ask for help? If they are all raising their hands, how will you help them all? Have you considered another way for them to ask for help?
