Module Maker
by Jamie McKenzie

Quote from the page: "This Module Maker will show you how to build your own Online Research Modules that will challenge your students to make up their own minds while supplying them with rich information to support such thinking." (from http://questioning.org/module/module.html, last visited 9/2/01)

The Module Maker emphasizes thinking and research skills, questioning, and project orientated engaged learning activities.  The online templates can be opened and edited in composer.  These templates are available as downloadable files in Microsoft word format .  Either form can be completed and saved on local computers, or on a convenient server.

First Activity:

  • Visit the Module Maker  and complete the tour that begins there.  There are links on the pages of the tours to more information about the various topics.  You may want more information about the design of questions, as this will be useful in any curriculum planning.
  • Create Questions and Tasks  Module Maker emphasizes the development of thinking skills and the design of questions for this purpose.  This page from the Chicago Board of Education provides information and templates to serve this purpose.   The Module Maker site also has links to questions materials.
Enrichment Activities:
  • Survey as many of the learning activities listed in the Module4 tour page as time and interest may dictate.
  • Survey the templates on the Module6 tour page.  The left column of the table contains the direct links to templates.  The word files are downloaded via the links in the right column.
