Spring Training for the Web Institute for Teachers 2000 will commence March 30 and meet every Thursday (except April 20) until June 1.

Co-instructors will be Craig Cunningham and Marty Billingsley.
Location: Biological Sciences Learning Center 018.

The classroom will be open from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Group instruction time will be between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Trainees should plan on staying at least three hours each class period.
Successful trainees (who complete assigned curriculum module and attend at least 8 sessions of the class) will receive a $500 stipend, and will be invited to apply for a limited number of positions as mentors in WIT 2000.

"Trainee" means that the person has committed to participating fully in the Spring Training, including attending at least 8 sessions, and being a full partner with their team in developing curriculum modules for WIT. Former mentors and former trainees (from the 1999 Spring Training) are called "trainees" even though they have already successfully completed Spring Training. (Just like in baseball; even Sammy Sosa shows up for Spring Training!) All trainees will receive a stipend of $500 if they successfully complete the training. ("Successfully complete" will be defined on the first day of the Spring Training class.)
"Advisor" means that the person has agreed to attend at least 4 sessions and to help the trainees to develop curriculum by sharing their (the advisors) experience and insights into WIT. Advisors are volunteers; they are not eligible for the stipend.
"TIW" is not a misprint; it means Technology
Integration Workshop, a program conducted by the Chicago Public Schools
in collaboration with the University of Chicago's Graham School of General
Studies in the summer of 1999.
