An
important part of Madrid's rich culture is its abundance in
delicious cuisine.
In addition to typical Spanish foods, Madrid also
overflows with
dishes from neighboring provinces such as Valencia, Galicia, or the Basque
country.
Breakfast typically
consists of churros con chocolate (deep fried
Spanish doughnuts
and hot chocolate). Lunchtime is perhaps the
biggest and
most important meal of the day and is anytime
between 1-4
p.m. Dinnertime is late in which people would
usually have
leftovers from lunchtime around 10:30 p.m. Between
lunch and dinner,
Madrilenos would have merienda (snack/tea time) that usually consists
of churros, other types of danish, coffee
and tea.

Madrid is famous
for their tapas, small snacks that can be either
hot or cold
dishes that are served as appetizers and can be anything from Spanish omelette,
squids or paella - a rice dish made with saffron rice, seafood,
chicken and vegetables.
