Make a Timeline

A timeline is a tool scientists use to show change over time.  The Earth is very old, so a timeline of the Earth would be very long or would include only very big events.  We will be making a smaller timeline.

For this activity, you will need a ruler, a marker or pen, a long sheet of paper, tape or glue, and several small pictures of yourself at different ages (be sure to ask if you can use the pictures).

Use the ruler to make a straight line on the paper.  Mark an 2 inches on the line for every year of your life plus one and label the ages above the mark.  Be sure to include 0.  Now tape or glue the pictures to the age you were at the time the pictures were taken.  Ask a parent if you are not sure.  It's okay if the picture is too long to fit in the space on the line.  Glue the picture above the timeline, and then draw a line from the picture to the correct age.

Now you have a timeline of yourself.  You can look at it and see how you have changed over time.
