Students will click on the picture of Vernon Jarrett and listen to him talk about the significance of Joe Louis to the African-American community and the entire United States in 1938. Students will conduct a web quest to find answers to specific questions. The first three students to answer all the questions correctly receives a prize. This exercise will test students' search skills and teach them to focus on getting assignments done quickly and accurately.
Students should:
1. Make
sure you know how to search the web efficiently and then teach your students
to do the same. The following

2. Have students read the directions for Activity #4.
3. Tell
students to enter complete answers (first and last names and exact phrases
with periods at the end) on the
interactive quiz. This will ensure that their scores are computed
accurately.
4. You may set a time limit if you desire.
5. Have students check their answers against the answer key.
6. The first three students to answer questions 1-10 correctly wins a prize.
7. Have students focus on the essay questions. Class discussion should follow.
