Tales from the Forest In the end.............mother always knows best!
Session Two
Overview:This
lesson gives students more opportunities to explore important events
in the story.
Goals:
Further Inquiry:
Begin today's activities by again reading Little Red Riding Hood to the class. If possible, provide students with copies of the story. Involve the children by setting the scene, arousing interest and engaging the children in discussion. Today's task should again examine two new words that can be utilized in activities. Divide students into small groups Students can work on individual tasks provided for the group, after reading and examining the book with a partner. Celebrate approximations in students unsure of text and remember... don't assume that students are following along and understand the task presented. Many students at this stage of development do not understand many of the complicated tasks needed to "read." Interaction and modeling is of utmost importance, when working in pairs and small groups. When reading tasks are completed, groups discuss characters,
plot and one of the most important things that happened in
the story. Students can respond and you can write them on the board.
When the discussion is completed, have the students draw/write their conclusion
in their reader
response logs.
