Objectives of these Activities:

Upon completion of these activities, students will:

•   Have a good understanding of whales.
•   Understand the anatomy of whales, especially the difference between toothed and baleen    whales.
•   Learn about some different cetacean species, including the Blue Whale and others.
•   Understand the ecological importance and the fragility of the  population of whales.
•   Identify  whether a given animal  is a whale or not and tell why.
•   Describe the various types of whale behavior.
•   Share their learning experience with family and friends.

Activity Instructions:

  1.  Give each student a print-out. Instructions for printing are below.
  2.  Have each student click on the activity for the sheet.
  3.  The student will use All About Whales to answer the the
        questions in the print-out.  For example,  If the the question
        is about the "blue whale", the student should go to the
        section on blue whales and  reread the pages.
  4.  Upon completion of this unit, students will take quizzes to
        see how much they have mastered.
 
 

Pre/Post Test    Students will take a pre and post test to see how much
                           they already know about whales before you  begin this
                            unit, and later as a conclusion to your study.
