Steps to changing your password:

1. Click Start (bottom left hand corner of your screen)
2. Click Run
3. In the rectangle, type "telnet cuip.uchicago.edu"  - Do not include the quotation marks. DO include the space between telnet and cuip.  Click "ok."
4. At the login prompt, type in your user name, press Enter.
5. At the password prompt, type in your current password, press Enter.
6. The screen should read: yourusername@cuip:~>
7. If you want suggestions for a new password, type in "pwds" after the > - no quotes - or you may choose your own password (remember a combination of letters and numbers works best - make sure you can remember it!) Press Enter.
8. When you are ready to switch to your new password, type "passwd" - no quotes. Press Enter.
9. Follow the prompts and type in your current password; press Enter.
10. Then type your new password and press Enter.  MAKE SURE YOU REMEMBER YOUR NEW PASSWORD!  YOUR OLD PASSWORD WILL NOT WORK AFTER THIS!
11. To exit telnet, type "exit" or "logout" (no quotes) and press Enter.
