What You'll Learn in this Section

You're going to learn how to change the size of an image, how to center an image, and how to create a border around an image.

Changing the Size of an Image

  1. First thing you do is select the image you want to alter. In this case, click on the image of the cat being drawn on the chalkboard.
  2. Click on the "Insert Image" button on the desktop. A window should appear that looks like this.

  3. To change the size of the image, click in the field next to "Height" and change it to "46." Note that the width changed with it to keep the image in proportion. You should also know that you can change the width instead of the height and it will also work.

  4. Click on "OK" and the image should become smaller. Repeat the steps above whenever you want to change the size of an image. Click on the "Original Size" button if you want to the image to return to its original size.

Centering an Image

  1. Select the image you want to center.
  2. Click on the "Alignment" button on the toolbar. Three buttons should pop down that look like this.

  3. Select the middle button which is the "Center" button. Yep, it's that easy.

Creating a Border Around an Image

Although I did not use a border around my image, I'm going to tell you how to do it so that you have that choice.

  1. First, select the image you want to put a border around.
  2. Click on the "Insert Image" button on the toolbar. A window appears that looks like this.
  3. Click in the field to the right of "Solid border" and type in the number of pixels you want your border to have. Most borders are from 1 to 3 pixels, but you can use any number your little heart desires.

  4. Click "OK." You should see a border around your image. My border is blue for emphasis.

Okay, now repeat the steps for inserting an image and changing its size for the picture of the classroom that you saved earlier. Insert the picture into the bottom right cell.
