1. Aim: To promote higher order thinking skills in math and language arts

2. Rational: In order for students to test successfully test on standardized tests, they need to be able to think logically in both math and language arts. We all know that technology is the new wave of the future and anyone not knowledgeable will be left behind. It is our desire that all children able to compete academically with their peers anywhere. The Bowaty team has put together a site rich in higher order thinking activities designed to assist in improving test scores, and to help students become more comfortable and proficient in using the internet.computer and improve navigation skills.

3.Goals and objectives:

Upon completion of the activities in this module, students will be able to:

  • navigate through a web site to get information
  • compare and contrast
  • interpret and summarize
  • apply math problems to everyday life
  • analyze and organize information
  • deduce solutions logically
  • support results
  • estimate
  • evaluate

.4 Audience and Pre-requisites

  • This site was prepared for third grade students, but can be adapted for other grades.
  • Some basic knowledge of computer and internet operation is needed for both teachers and students.

7. Assessment and Evaluation

    • Tests accompany module lessons
    • Evaluation on student progress can be assessed through

8. Subject Matter

  • This module offers higher order thinking skills in both language arts and math.
  • The subject matter correlates to the state goals and standards.

9. Instructional Plan

  • This module has 2 learning modes. It is mean to be used in the classroom and or in the homes of students.
  • The Bowaty Math and Language Arts Module supplements the teacher's own math and language arts program and is a great boost in helping students prepare for taking tests.
  • It is up to the teacher to determine the amount of time students spend on various activities.
  • The teacher should demonstrate how to navigate through this site for less experienced students.
