Vowel Sounds (dipthong "oi", "oy")

Introduction
In this web lesson, students will practice identifying the sound of the
"oi", oy"
dipthong. They will read a story and then answer questions about
the sounds in
the words from the story. Additionally, they may search for words
containing the
dipthong from a table.
Aim
The purpose of this lesson is to provide first grade students with an opportunity
to
discover the "oi", "oy" dipthong.
Rationale
First grade students need to understand the "oi", "oy" dipthong
in order to read,
write and comprehend the written word.

Audience
This lesson is designed for first grade students.
Prerequisites
This lesson addresses students, whose prior abilities include
knowing consonant
and vowel sounds and letter blends. Students must be able to read
at level.
Subject-Matter
This phonics lesson focuses on the "oi", "oy" dipthong.
Instructional Plan
Students will read the story, Roy The Robot, then
take a self-correcting
quiz to select appropriate answers to questions.
