BOOK REPORTS

PIZZA HUT BOOK-IT

Each child in first grade at Ray School is asked to read a minimum of 25 books per school year.  We will record the number of books your child reads each quarter on his or her report card.

A reading log has been provided to record the the books your child reads each quarter  A new log will be provided each quarter or you may download it by clicking here.  Any book you read to your child, your child reads independently, or to you may be listed on the log.  Each child should read a minimum of 7 books this quarter.  Please return the log at the end of the quarter.

The books may come from any source.  The Ray School library and the public library are good sources for books your child will enjoy reading.  Books from home, books borrowed from the classroom library, and those purchased from the Scholastic Book Clubs may be read and included on the log.

Two book reports will be required each quarter.  Click here to download the book report form.  The forms for these reports are available from school.  For the first quarter, the first book report was due September 17, l999; the second is due October 25, l999.  For the second quarter, the first book report is due on November 30, l999; the second is due January 14, 2000.  For the third quarter, the first book report is due February 15, 2000; the second is due March 28, 2000.  For the fourth quarter, the first book report is due May 3, 2000; the second is due June 6, 2000.

Pizza Hut Book-It
We are participating in the Pizza Hut Book-It program this year.  In order to qualify for a free personal pan pizza coupon each month, children must fulfill the first grade reading requirements described above.  (Children are required to read 2 books per month and write one book report per month.)  Look for the book report form with your child's papers each month!  You may also download the form from this site by clicking here.   If we have 100% class participation each month, the class wins a free pizza party from Pizza Hut in the Spring!  The Pizza Hut Book-It program runs from November through March.
