A Hierarchy of Computer Users

Here are the different characteristic ways that I find people use computers:
  1. "Go away, leave me alone, I don't use computers!"
  2. "I've done this before like this; don't explain it to me!"
    1. Also known as "Monkey see, monkey do"
This is the most common way people use computers
  3. "Hmmmmm. I know it does this. I wonder if it can do that."
    1. A willingness to explore is a sea-change in attitude.
  4. "OK, it won't do that. But if I do these four steps I can get there!"
    1. Developing a "work-around".
  5. Then comes technical support.... ;-)
    1. It's just all the rest of that stuff....
Where are you? Where do you want to go?

Final Mail Setups

As Sally or I come around to each of you today we'll try and get you set up on e-mail. Or get as far as we can....

Workshops for You

I suggest you go through each one of these in order. Start each one. Get a feel for it. If you feel you know the content, skim through and come back here and go to the next one. Go through as many as you can for the rest of today, asking Sally and me questions as you will.

This is the same chart from the end of yesterday's Daily Guide.
