Incorporating multimedia into your classroom instruction can be rewarding as well as challenging.
Engaged learning activities that are multimedia based include CD-ROM software, Java based Internet activities,
and Web sites that deliver video or audio in Quick Time, MP3, or through streaming technology.  Moving
pictures and sound provide a more active learning environment but at the same time can provide diversions
from the real task for some students.  As you begin to develop lessons and activities that are multimedia based,
keep these points in mind:

Designing Multimedia Applications for Instruction Discussion of how learning styles impact the design and use of multimedia in educational instruction. 
This site is by far has the strangest name but kids flock to it due to the unusual content.  Kids can explore the yuckier things in life such as bugs, spiders, mud facts, etc. in a variety of interesting activities.  For science teachers, this site is great.
Afro-am is a site run by the Afro-American Newspaper.  In the Kidzone, students can play a variety of interactive multimedia games that do not require a plug-in.  In addition to the fun, there are facts and other information about African Americans that make this site a definite bookmark.
For a truly moving multimedia adventure, Kids' Space is the place.  Students have created a variety of multimedia projects and activities using Quick Time and other plugi-ins.  The site also has a connection to Japan which adds a multicultural dimension.
This has got to be one of the wildest sites on the Internet.  Bring your students here and have them morph a picture into a caricature.  The site walks you through the process and when you are finished, you can add the file to a Web Page.
Interesting site of kids links and activities with various animations and mutlimeda links. Check out this site before letting kids roam free.  There are some spaces that have R rated content.
This is a truly amazing site for teenagers that offers an unlimited amount of resources, activities and fun.  For younger students, check out Cyberkids. com.
