The aim of the Creating Simple Web Pages module is to guide teachers in the development of simple web pages that integrate the use of the Internet as a tool to produce engaging, exciting lessons for their students. The teacher will create a personal homepage and a three-page Web curriculum module that incorporates basic Web page structure and principles of curriculum development.
As we enter the new millenium, it is no secret that the Internet will remain a viable, powerful resource in the educational arena. Teachers and students will be expected to know how to navigate the World Wide Web and to use the Internet to enhance engaged learning in the curriculum. The Internet provides enormous amounts of information that are designed specifically for students and teachers. Therefore, the Internet should not be used to simply gather information, but it should be used as a tool to promote critical thinking. The Internet can encourage communication and collaboration among students and teachers via online projects and other activities that promote engaged learning. By learning to create simple Web pages, teachers can design online activities that incorporate Internet resources, thereby, producing lessons that meets the individual needs of their students.
