Teachers will learn how to prepare Internet Search Engine activities for classroom and web applications. |

Searching on the Web can be overwhelming being that there are over 200 search engines and over 200 million web sites. As an increasing number of schools install the Internet, teachers will need to know how to incorporate engaging learning activities that will enable students to benefit from the use of Search Engines. |

PREREQUISITES |
Audience: Teachers at all grade levels.
Pre-requisites Teachers should be familiar with: Basic knowledge of computer skills.

Upon completion of this module, the teacher will be able to:

SUBJECT MATTER |
This module provides basic information regarding five of the most popular search engines, and how to effectively utilize the World Wide Web for teacher classroom curriculum. Teachers will collect data for classroom projects, and participate in interactive on-line activities. |

|
1. Read the modules introductory pages and review
web search terminology.
2. Teachers will divide into groups of two, and using several popular search engines, collect data on instructor prepared questions and record and share results. 3. Teachers will do 3 different Boolean searches on 3 web sites, using instructor prepared questions and compare results of the searches. 4. The teacher will prepare educational lesson plans utilizing some of the activities provided by the instructor. Work will be shared and questions will be discussed.

The teacher will be required to do two lesson plans using Search Engines curriculum activities. The teacher will complete a questionnaire to evaluate the usefulness of the workshop. |
