Planting a Garden

In this activity students will put their garden plan into action by actually going through the process of planting it.

Warm weather outside:

Step

 

 

1. Select a garden plot. (size, shape)

 

2. Prepare the soil by first turning it with a hoe, than fertilizing it with compost or manure.

 

3. Select the seeds or seedlings. (flower, vegetables)

 

4. Place the seed or seedling into the soil according to the instructions on the seed packet.

 

5. Label where you placed the different kinds of seeds.

 

6. Water your garden.

 

7. Make journal entries. Record the date, time, and your observations. Draw a picture.

 

Cool weather indoors:

Journal entries

Students demonstrate knowledge and their ability to follow their plan. The teacher is able to observe and facilitate the students success as the student carries out this activity
