Fred Fraction

Fred's method is pretty simple.  Fred counts the number of people and cuts the pizza in that many slices.  If there are 6 people there, he cuts the pizza into 6 slices.  Each person then gets one of those slices.

If Fred, Barney, BamBam, Wilma, Betty, and George split a Each person's portion is expressed as the fraction 1/6.

In the fraction 1/6, the bottom number, or denominator represents the number of slices that the pizza was divided into.

The top number, or numerator, represents the number of slices that you are talking about.  In other words, Barney would have eaten 1/6 of the pizza.

If George, Wilma, and Betty didn't show up, there would be three slices left and therefore 3/6 of the pizza would have been left.
