Example 2
<Example 1><Decimal Activity><Dino Home><Student Home>

The rectangle above represents one pizza.  Dino always cuts the pizza into 10 slices, then distrubutes them to his guests.

This time there are four people (Barney, Dino, BamBam, and Betty) eating the pizza and Dino wants to divide the pizza up evenly.
He starts out by giving each person 2 slices or 0.2 of the pizza.

Above are the two slices that Dino had left.

Dino cuts each of the two slices into ten bite-size pieces.

He then divides the pieces evenly among the four people

Each person gets an extra 5 bite size pieces, or 0.05 (five hundreths) of the pizza.

So, after the whole pizza has been divided, each person has this amount of pizza:

Each person gets 2 slices and 5 bite-size pieces.  That is 0.2 and 0.05 of the pizza.
Together that is 0.25 of the pizza, or two tenths and five hundreths

You can think of the original two slices as 20 hundreths.

So, you can think of 0.25 as 25 hundreths.
