Parke County in West Central Indiana

Parke County is a mere175 miles from Chicago, but in terms of lifestyle, values, pace, and politics, it might as well be175 thousand. Situated in the Wabash Valley, it is primarily a farm community. However, because of the many covered bridges, two outstanding state parks (Turkey Run and Shades), and beautiful Raccoon Lake which provides opportunity for all kinds of water sports and recreation, Parke County is also the destination for folks who want to enjoy nature. The map illustrates how closely situated these sites are. To learn more about Shades and Turkey Run, click on the photos and the map.
