Beware the streets of Hyde Park!  Last Saturday night at about 11:30pm,  my neighbor was attacked by two 15-year-old girls who stabbed her with knives as she entered her front door.  They were trying to steal her backpack.   She got partly in the front door and was trying to shut it on them when they attacked.  She's OK and is moving to Washington, D.C.

After tens of window smashings on the block of 56th street between Blackstone and Harper (yours truly being one of the victims), a culprit has been photographed.  My neighbor, who was sitting in the dark of his second floor living room at 2am, saw three teenage boys on the roof of the townhouses across the alley.  He quickly got his camera and photographed them.  He claims they have been up on the roof on other occasion throwing firecrackers, etc.  If these are the kids who have been throwing rocks off the roof at the cars, their parents will have very large bills for replacement windshields, windows, etc.  An earlier theory was that someone was shooting a gun out of a window in these townhouses:  all of the windows that have been broken have been on the north side of the cars.  Stay tuned......
