Objectives


 
Students will:
 

  • use the language of math to describe relationships found in plant parts
  • use the language of math to describe architecture
  • explore electronic plant encyclopedia to determine if plants in the same family have one of the Fibonacci Sequence values
  • identify and generate the Fibonacci Sequence
  • determine the Golden Mean geometrically and algebraically
  • measure buildings and determine if their proportions fall within the Golden Mean
  • identify the connection between Fibonacci Sequence and the Golden Mean
  • search the Web for examples of architecture that use the Golden Mean
  • use the Golden Mean as the basis for the creation of an architectual design
