Homework Instructional Plan

  • Time: will vary depending on what resources the student needs 
  • Materials: homework assignment from any class 
Instructional Plan:This activity requires students to use web-based resources to get assistance with homework. Teachers may make this a requirement, or offer it as a resource to be used as needed.  
  1. Teacher may ask students to keep a log of which resources are used, which assignments posed particular difficulties, and what type of help they received from the web resources. This log may be handed in with the original homework assignment. 
  2. Teachers may ask students to evaluate their logs and reflect in a "homework journal" on which types of assignments seem to give them the most difficulty. 
  3. Teachers may ask students to develop their own suggestions to help others with a particular assignment or project, and this advice can be posted in the Student Forum section of the HIgh School Survival Kit. 

Assessment:

Since this is a resource for students to utilize as needed, teachers have varied assessment options.  
  1. Teachers may evaluate students' records of their own use of the web homework resources. 
  2. Self-assessment can be useful with this section of the module, encouraging students' metacognition about their own learning. 
  3. Teachers may evaluate the written advice generated by students for posting in the Student Forum section of the module.
