The goals of the Kids on Campus
Program are to
offer challenging and intellectually
stimulating classes for chilcldren with high academic ability.
offer learning experiences which emphasize
the development of creative and critical thinking skills.
offer students an environment to socialize
with peers on a college campus.
offer students an opportunity to learn
with and from experts in their field/professions.
Students entering grades 6, 7,
or 8 in Fall 1998 and who meet at least one of the following criteria:
an achievement score at eh 95th percentile
or above on Reading Total, Math Total, Social Studies, Science
or
an ability test score at the 95th percentile
or above.
Kids on campus is staffed by McHenry
County College instructors, state certified teachers and mentors.
All instructors have extensive experience and expertise in their areas
of instruction.
Kids on Campus will be conducted Monday
through Thursday for two weeks, August 3-13, 1998. Students will
participate in three classes which will meet on the following schedule:
Class 1 1:00-2:00
p.m.
Class 2: 2:10-3:13
p.m.
Class 3 3:20-4:20
p.m.

Words of the Pharaohs: The Ancient
Hieroglyphs of Egypt
