This study of mythology is
meant to include interaction among students in a cooperative
environment of mutual respect. The ideas we will be discussing may
touch upon deeply held beliefs, both your own and those of your class
mates. Please keep a scholarly esthetic distance throughout
the class. The aim of the class is to broaden the understanding
and appreciation of mythology and allusions to the elements of mythology,
as well as to discover commonalties among the mythologies of Classical
Greece and Rome and other cultures.
We will be working together to generate
and hone definitions of terms . Once we agree (or agree to disagree)
upon terms, we will soak in examples of mythology. I hope you will
surf the links on the WWW and take time to enjoy the MCC Library.
Be looking for examples of references to mythology in your town and through
out your daily life.
Consider the Calendar for
Kids on Campus 1998, to be a work in process. As we talk together
and work together, the calendar will change to reflect the interests
and input of the class. Check this site each day before class for
the latest updates.
I am glad you are interested in mythology
and chose to register for this class. Our common interest and a comfortable
environment should give us opportunities to grow and enjoy the study.
