Compromise of 1850

     The tension in the U.S. began to reach new heights between the North and the South in the decade before the Civil War. The status quo that had been produced by the Missouri Compromise was in serious jeopardy. In fact, the Missouri Compromise was about to become completely undone. How was peace to be maintained?  Students will investigate the following:

                                         2) Why did the South view this with great
                                               trepidation
                                         3) What did the North want to happen because of
                                               this event
                                         4) State the results of this compromise
                                         5) Explain how the Compromise of 1850 affected
