In addition, Chem Corner is designed to improve the communication between students, parents, and teacher through e-mail. Students can sharing ideas, ask question, and write a feedback as the instructional processes evolve.

Chem Corner's Unit:Bottled Water Analyis, Lesson Objectives:

Collect global data of bottled water by using intenet resource.
Knowing and understanding the vocabulary words used to classify bottled water
Analyze and evaluate the validity of bottled water advertisement claims.
Perform laboratory experiment to determine the mineral contents of five bottled water.
Organize and analyze the data using excel in table and graph, draw the line of best fit through data points.
Inferring conclusion from collected data, students will be able to determine labeling regulation compliance, or misbranded samples.

Instructional Plans

Chem Corner instructional plan will involve independent work using computer with internet access or group work that students will use email to collaborate with other students in the completion of assign task in the form of report or use of power point presentation. Selected unit lessons will involve activities designed to use Internet as extension of their learning goals.

In the Water Analysi Unit, students will conduct evaluation of bottled water claimed by its producers based on their advertisements. Conduct an experiment to evaluate the mineral content of five different brand of bottled water. In addition, to test the mineral content of Chicag public school water fountains, and the students' household drinking water in school chemistry lab. Student will compare and evaluate the result.

Assessment and Evaluation

Students' work will be assessed based on the rubric designed for instructional curriculum with goal to maximize the use of internet resources and integrated "passion " student interest in producing a finish product. The ability to to make a choice in deciding about consumer products and ability to evaluate the validity claimed by the advertisers using a scientific experiments in the classroom. (insert rubric link here)
Students assessment will be guided by Illinois State Board of Education Science Goals

Chem Corner homepage will be assessed based ease of navigating the sites' subject contents and links that will guide the students to complete the assigned activities or just simply use the site as hub to gather information, search for educational web sites related to chemistry, and use interactive intenet sites relevant to the subject of study.
