MEET THE CHILDREN
Welcome to our State Prekindergarten classroom.
We
have a great group this semester. In this class we will introduce
the children properly to computers, computer hardware and software.
By providing children with some initial directions for operating the equipment,
we can give them the confidence to use the area independently which will
also enhance their learning abilities.
We invite all parents and caregivers to come to our classroom to meet the children. Room 102 is an Inclusion classroom. We have seventeen children in each AM and PM session. Twelve of the children are at-risk and five have been diagnosed with special needs. Including the children with disabilities in the program means helping these children learn, play, and make friends in the least restrictive environment.
The classroom staff consists of a general education teacher, a special education teacher, a teacher assistant, and a welfare attendant who visits for twenty minutes each session. We strongly encourage the children to develop at their own pace and to become as creative as possible.
Johnny loves to read picture books to make up his own story. Those were amusing moments we cherish to memory.
Matthew is special but gifted with remarkable artistic talents. Every piece of his artwork is amazing for his age and stage of cognitive development.
Rembrant was forever chewing the puzzle pieces. A nutrition experience was developed to make an edible puzzle and we gave his mom the recipe.
David was our weatherman. He loved to dress the felt board cut-outs in cool (stylish) clothing which was suitable for the weather.
Joyce is the teacher who is only thirty-six inches tall. She loves to tell everyone what to do and what they cannot do. She especially likes telling others what they cannot do.
Aaron loves to play basketball. The oranges provided for lunch are basketball substitutes as are this take home papers, books, and hats.
Mike is our boxer. He loves to box with anyone. If there is no one available he carries on by himself.
All of the children have demonstrated an ability to learn and an ability
to share some of their experiences with others in the classroom.
The children in 102
are a great bunch of kids.
