We want to supply teachers a curriculum web that will support their
understanding and instruction of geology while we provide on-line resources
for exploring geology for student, parents and teachers.
The rationale for this curriculum web is to meet the need of most elementary
school teachers who at a lost when teaching science. Thus, students
are at a lost when learning science. Providing teachers with access
to relevant subject-matter without having to research or surf the web allows
teachers time to study and become confident in their delivery of instruction
and increases the learning experiences of the students. Providing
students a curriculum web allows students to have the feel of surfing the
web while limiting their access to irrelevant sites.
Teachers, students and parents are the audience for this currculum web.
In order to use this curriculum successfully, one must have an open mind
and an understanding of how to access the internet and surf the web.
This curriculum web will focus on some aspects of geology; specifically
geological time periods, the compostion of rocks and fossils, layers of
earth, soils, earth processes, and plate tectonics.
Teachers and students will share a common experience on the web and gain
confidence in using the Web.
Teachers will feel comfortable instructing students in the area of
geology by guiding their students throught the curriculum web.
Students will explore the Web and learn about certain areas in geology
by successfully completing (80% of higher) the activities in the curriculum
web.
