The student should be in a controlled and comfortable setting to ask  for accommodations. Creative thinking is to have students imagine they're living on their own five years from now.  Let them brainstorm all the expenses they'll have as well as project their income.  Then, provide monthly budget sheets so students can itemize and plan for expenses.
