Illinois State Goal 16: Understand and analyze
events, trends, individuals and movements shaping the history of Illinois,
the United States and other nations.
CAS A. Compare and contrast significant events
in the historical development of various state, national, and world communities.
CFS 3. Analyze major scientific,
economic, religious, and political influences on the development of civilizations
2000 BCE to 450 CE.
CFS 4. Summarize the basic
characteristics of great empires and civilizations from 2000 BCE
to 450 CE (e.g., Greek, Roman, Chou, Persian, Mayan, Gupta, Tang,
Mali) to illustrate their similarities and differences.
CAS B. Describe the role and contributions of significant
historical figures and groups in the development of the United States
and the world.
CFS 3. Identify individuals
from the history of ancient civilizations whose contributions have had
a significant impact on their society.
CAS D. Summarize the influence of technology and
mass communication on the historical development of the United States and
the world (e.g., the wheel, the printing press, transportation, computer).
CFS 1. Analyze and explain
how social and cultural changes in various civilizations were influenced
