TEACHER'S GUIDE FOR CELL THEORY |
|
AIM: Have students understand and be able to use the cell theory RATIONALE: There are three fundamental concepts in modern biology. The oldest of these concepts is the cell theory. If students are going to understand the history and future direction of biologic research, they must have an understanding of the cell theory.OBJECTIVES: 1. Students will be able to identify if an object is a cell. 2. Students will able identify the organelles found in eukaryotes cells and discuss their function in the cell. 3. Students will be able to differentiate a prokaryotic cell from an eukaryotes cell. 4. Students will be able to explain how and from what source new cells are created. AUDIENCE: High school freshmen PRE-REQUISTES: Should have taken any science lab based program in elementary school; has basic math skills. MATERIALS: 1. Text 2. Laboratory Manuals 3. Computer with printer 4. Spiral bound Notebook 5. Pencils and pen 1. Use of the Compound Light Microscope 2. Microscope Worksheet 3. Virtual Cell tour and worksheet 4.
