Project Plan
You’re going to be investigating a country to help students make a decision about where they would like to do a foreign exchange. Follow the steps in order to gather, display and present your information
1. Choose a Partner
2. Choose from among the following Francophone countries: Canada (Québec), France (Grenoble), Morocco, Algeria, Switzerland, Belgium, Senegal, Haiti, Martinique
3. Choose two vocabulary areas from the list of options: food, media, sport, recreation, etc… (the other two vocabulary areas are mandatory and are clothing and the educational system)
I. Preparation
A. Find out the facts about the country
· global location
· capital/major cities
· system of government
· flag
· nationality
· etc…
B. Develop your vocabulary lists (4 total—two
mandatory, two from class options)
· choose from among the class options
· decide which two you will do and which two your partner will do
· each list must have a minimum of 10 words related to the area
· give the English and French for each word on your lists
C. Develop your guiding questions for a successful
year-long foreign exchange experience
· school system
· daily life
· challenges
D. 2 Personal information paragraphs (you and
your partner) in FRENCH
· typed
· greeting
· name
· age
· birthdate
· nationality
· likes
II. Presentation
A. 3-panel presentation board
· Information must be typed
· Information must be logically organized
· Information must be neatly presented
· Information must include all components
B. Components
NOTE: the use of translation programs is PROHIBITED!
· 2 presentation paragraphs
· country facts displayed
· flag displayed
· 4 vocabulary lists in English and French displayed
· visuals to accompany the vocabulary
· guiding questions displayed
· guiding questions answered and displayed
· country evaluation displayed
III. Peer Evaluation
· be able to answer questions about the foreign exchange experience
in your selected country by your teacher and your peers
· visit 3 other different country exchange projects and evaluate them
on your peer evaluation sheet
· analyze your findings and decide in which country your would most
like to have a foreign exchange experience and give facts to support your
decision
Assessment
· Projects count for 20% of quarter class grade
· Peer evaluation counts for 10% of the project grade
· Teacher evaluation counts for 90% of the project grade (assessed
via the attached rubric
