Français II IB

1. Either

• a) If you have an e-PAL, send an e-mail (in french) to him or her explaining that the class is trying to put together un “livre de cuisine” and ask him/her for one of their favorite recipes.(“une recette”).  You can request something simple or something “typiquement français” or something they like to make.

• b) If you haven’t yet received an e-PAL or a recipe from one, you will need to:

1. Choose a francophone area from which to request a recipe.
2. Post your request to the “Culture” section of the e-PALS discussion board.  Simply entitle your request “I need a recipe from  _________________(country/area name on the blank).

Note:  If you are looking for a recipe from the same area as someone else, you can group your request into one message.

If you do not receive a response to your posting by 3/25/03, you will need to bring in a recipe of your own to translate into French for inclusion in the “livre de cuisine”

2.  Whatever format your recipe is in, you will need to translate it and make the conversions from english measurement to metric.  e.g. if your recipe is in french,    translate it into english and convert the metric measurements into cups/ounces/etc...  If your recipe is in english, translate it into french and convert the cups/ounces/etc... into metric.  (see the conversions page).

3.  Choose one of two “livre de cuisine” formats:  website or paper and nominate a “chef du livre” from within your group.  The “chef” needs to be someone who is comfortable with either learning how to compose a website or how to compile a word document.  If you are following the website option, your "chef" will need to create the main page (listing the titles of all the recipes and the authors of each with links to them) and the authors will need to create their own page for their recipe (English and French versions).  Both can be done at www.freewebsitehosting.com
