Task #2: Choose one of the following websites to evaluate using the Website Critique Checklist  developed from the ALA criteria.

A.  Visit several of the following websites to decide which one you would like to evaluate.

The Museum of Science and Industry
Institute for Women In Trades, Technology & Science
National Rifle Association
National Geographic for Kids
American Library Association's  Great Sites for Kids
Abortion and Reproductive Rights:  Choices for Women

B.  Use the Website Critique Checklist to evaluate and make notes about the website you have chosen to evaluate.

C.  Find a partner who evaluated the same website as you, compare your evaluations and discuss.

D.  Use the Website Scoring Table to give the website a score (from 0-34).

Note: Every website does not need to meet every one of these criteria to be a great website,
but the higher the score, the more likely it is to be a worthwhile place to spend time.
In addition to a website's score, you need to consider your own "mandatory" criteria.
That is, if it is a website that requires a system more advanced than the computers you
can access, or if a website requires a lot of reading and you teach first grade, a great (34 point)
website still would not be appropriate for your use.
Practice #2:  Locate two or three websites that you would use with your students (or websites that you have already used with your students).  Apply the Website Critique Checklist and the Website Scoring Table to evaluate and score these websites.
