Welcome

How
Do You Like Your Fish?
An interactive web lesson for children ( parents
too! ) |
Per the Chicago Public School homework guidelines for Kindergarten, students are required to complete at least 15 min. of homework daily. Students will be assigned homework Monday through Thursday. There will be various weekend projects throughout the year. ALL HOMEWORK MUST BE SIGNED BY A PARENT/GUARDIAN and returned to school in the homework folder by the following school day or when the assignment is due.
Each child will be given a homework folder. They should bring the homework folder to school with them each day.
Parents, make
sure you look into the homework folder each and every day!

Birthday
Celebrations
The 3rd.
Friday of each month will be designated as "Birthday Celebration Day".
All the birthdays
for that month will be celebrated on that Friday. We choose to celebrate
the children's birthdays this way due to too many parties (sometimes two
and three a week) and cake and ice cream overdose!
If you would
like your child to celebrate his/her birthday at school, you are responsible
for all the fixings (decorations, treats, set up, clean up etc.)
These items need to be at the school by 12:30 p.m. (before we go to lunch)
Check with Ms. Joyner to see who else has a birthday for that month.
You can get together with other parents and maybe split the cost of paper
supplies, treats, and food. Make sure you have enough treats for
the entire class. (Teachers like treats too!!!)

We eat
lunch at 12:30 p.m. many of the students are hungry before this time.

the hungries!
We need your
assistance in donating snacks. (see list) Make sure you send
enough snacks for all the children in the class. There will be a
snack sign up sheet that will begin after Labor Day.
If your child
is allergic to any food, we need to KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Student
drop off and pick up
School begins
at 8:50 a.m.; children should not be left in the building before this time
unless they are going for breakfast. School is dismissed at 2:30
p.m. (unless otherwise stated). Kindergarten children are dismissed
from inside the building (they line up outside the classroom along the
west wall).
If your
child rides a school bus, goes to an after school program or has other
after school transportation, please tell Ms. Joyner. We want to make
sure our children are picked up in a timely manner and delivered to pre
parent approved locations.
EMERGENCIES!!!
Each parent
MUST have an
emergency form on file. If you are using a pager number, please annotate
that it is a pager on the form. Remember the prefix "535".
This is the prefix to most of the Chicago Board of Education telephones.
Illness
PLEASE DO
NOT SENT SICK CHILDREN
TO SCHOOL. They are irritable and can pass germs to others in the
school. Sorry, teachers are not
allowed to administer any medications.
If your
child becomes ill during the school day, the parent will be notified immediately
and expected to pick up the child within the hour. (if due to distance
you will not be able to pick up your child in the hour, someone else whom
you notify the school of can come to the school and pick up your child)
