Grading

Students will be graded on their performance in five areas: Class Participation, Homework, Quizzes, Tests, and Final Exams. Homework should be kept in a separate notebook that will be collected and graded without notice. Students should bring this notebook to class every day! There is no excuse for not having the homework notebook in class. Students should show all of the work for every homework assignment. Quizzes will be given half-way through every chapter and will usually be Take-Home. Tests will be given at the end of every chapter. There will be a project in each semester. Projects will be worth one test grade each. Final grades will be weighted as follows towards the final grade:

Category
Percent of Grade
Class Participation
5%
Homework
30%
Quizzes
10%

Tests (including Project)

40%
Final Exams
15%

Once a percentage has been calculated, a letter grade will be assigned as follows:

Percentage
Letter Grade
89.5% +
A
79.5% - 89.4%
B
69.5% - 79.4%
C
59.5% - 69.4%
D
Less than 59.5%
F

Grades are available on edline.net. This is a secure site where students and parents may access grades with a password. Every student will receive their own access code in class.
