Objective:
This Internet workshop will introduce you to our unit on early jazz history.  You will have an opportunity to explore important resources on the Internet.  Get ready to learn about jazz.

What"s Cool About Jazz?

Go to the bookmark (red hot jazz) and read about jazz.  Find out what jazz is and learn about famous jazz artists.  And, be ready to share this information during our Internet Workshop time.

Click on (Louis Armstrong ) and explore information about  Louis Armstrong.   Be certain to read answers to some of the guestions at the bottom of this article.  Write down what you have learned about Louis Armstrong and his music.  Be prepared to share this information during our Internet Workshop time.

Your  Choice

Visit at least two of the many other locations at (redhot  jazz) and (African American History).  You
decide where to go!  Write down notes of what you discovered and share your special discoveries with all of during our Internet Workshop.

4_  points  You recorded important for each item.
6_ points   You effectively shared important with us during workshop sessions, helping  each of us
                    to learn about jazz in music history.
 

Activity #2

History Fair

Encourage students to complete the Internet Inquiry .  Have them conduct research  on various early jazz artists from 1920's -l930's.  Have students ask questions of one another, trying to discover the name of their famous jazz artist, using the format from the game "Twenty Questions."
Have students display the results of their research on poster board or on a classroom home page.
After the history fair set up the poster board presentations in the school library for the entire school to see or invite other classrooms to view the work of various students at a classroom home page.
