As the divorce rate and teenage pregnancy rates increase, so does the percentage of single motherhood .  Over 50% of the next generation will be raised by single mothers.  Single mothers today face an awesome but important task.  They are charged with guiding and mentally, physically and emotionally nourishing the next generation so that they my grow up to be law abiding, productive citizens.  Yes, that cute little baby boy, "Jon-Jon" or that darling little baby girl, "Ta-Ta", that you cuddle today may  grow up to be the next generation's professional, skilled laborer, child care provider, medical personnel, sports star or entertainer.

How motivated and psychologically balanced they are depends a great deal on their parent or caregiver.  In order for the next generation to have the ability to be well rounded, intelligent decision makers, they must have been raise by a well rounded, intelligent decision maker.  A stress free, critically thinking parent equals a stress free, happy child.

A stress free critically thinking , decision making parent is one who identifies personal goals that she would like to meet in her personal life.  The goals include positive, effective child rearing techniques that would serve to make life more satisfactory  and stress free for herself and her child.  Some of the more prominent concerns and problems that single mothers face are:

                                                Finding a proper daycare facility or a trustworthy baby-sitter
                                                How to exercise proper discipline
                                                Toilet training a toddler
                                                Continuing their education
                                               Supporting themselves and their children
