About Us:

The Junior Church was started by Mother Narissa Black. Mother Black was the assistant to Dr. Hayes on Langley. Mother Black felt that the chiildren needed to learn church procedures and how to conduct themselves in church so with the permission of the pastor, she started the Junior Church at Cosmopolitan Church of Prayer.

The Junior Church consists of children age 2 through 10. Children meet on the second and fourth Sunday of each month in the annex adjacent to the main church during regular Sunday worship service.

The children worship through songs, crafts, and Bible stories geared to help them adapt in everyday life situations.

Junior Church Staff:

At the present time, our staff consists of five teacher leaders. Each leader is responsible for a specific age group of children. Our toddlers class consists of two to four year olds. Our Cosmo cherubs include our five and six year olds. Our seven to nine year olds are known as Seekers and our ten to twelve year olds are referred to as Scholars.

The children's curriculum is supplied by the pastor and the Junior Church director. Teacher leaders along with the pastor meet every first Sunday to plan and discuss lessons and activities. Every lesson is taught and based strictly on Bible principles.

The Junior Church also presents special projects during Easter, Christmas, Black History month and Youth Day. We are also involved in our children's academic success in schools. In addition, we sponsor outings and cultural enriching activities throughout the year as incentives to motivate our children.

Whenever you visit Chicago, we encourage you to visit our main santuary for worship and have your child visit our Junior Church.
