This site is designed to provide information to fourth graders
about Native Americans in Illinois.
RATIONALE:
Students will use the computer to learn about native tribes
that were inhabitants of regions in Illinois. They will learn about cultures,
customs, traditions, beliefs, habitats, clothes, and foods. They will also
gain knowledge on how to access or research a topic on the internet.
GOALS:
These goals will be based on the fourth grade standards
State Goal # 13
CPS Standards # 17
OBJECTIVES:
After doing this lesson students will be able to:
1. Identify what a Native American Tribe is
2. Describe a particular tribe related to Illinois
3. List the tribes that inhabited Illinois
4. Give examples of habitat, clothes, and foods of an
Illinois tribe
AUDIENCE:
This web lesson is for fourth graders and older with this
interest.
PREREQUISITES :
Students should have the ability to turn on a computer
Students should have at least a third grade reading level
Students should have access to the net
Students should have some ability to navigate among web pages
Students should have some ability to use a mouse

ASSESSMENT/EVALUATION :
Using the student questions:
Have students list 3 things they learned from completing
the assignment.
Write 3 questions they would
like to learn more about involving
Native Americans.
Draw a picture of one
tribes clothing.
As a class, develop hot
